There is no need for you to buy your own equipment to fence at ASU, and we have no fee for using club equipment. Many students have spent their entire 4 or 5 years at ASU fencing with us using only our club equipment. That said, almost everyone who sticks with fencing ends up wanting to buy their own equipment. Fencing equipment is more expensive than what youd pay for a simple sport like basketball or football, but not as much as you would pay for a sport like skiing or snowboarding. Here we have provided a chart of the common fencing equipment and an approximate cost for an entry level but high quality version that would last you many years of use. Most fencers only purchase a few of the items on the list below, consisting of a Jacket, Knickers, Mask, Glove, and a weapon or two, generally costing around $150.00 total.
We highly recommend you consult with a coach or more experienced fencer before purchasing any equipment as they can assist you in selecting the best equipment for the best price, we also typically get a heavy discount by ordering through our club. |
